Walker Evans- In particular, "Beauties of the common tool". This project was interesting to me due to the simplicity of the subjects used. They are all singular objects and are not unusual in any way- despite this, the reflectiveness and sharp, clear lines that separate the object from the back round were the reasons for this small artist research. This was done in the 1950's, which relates to how photography has changed over time. The paragraphs below explain Evan's interest in these tools, referring to the "Swanlike flow" of the lines, and their"tough simplicity" which appeals to the senses.

The idea of still life photography is extremely conceptual, especially with a large audience. However, if composition is arranged with thought- out precision the viewers can be made to interpret a photograph in the way the photographer wanted. Similarly, lighting and colour scales used in photography can be used to make the viewer focus on a specific subject. A large component of my work from now onwards will combine the signature greyscale usage of Colin Wilson, and the recognisable vibrant colours used in Dalston Anatomy. A large proportion of my photography will be greyscale with experimentations on ways to incorporate shots of colour, both manually and through photoshop.
