Victor Diop
victor Diop represents characters from the past that have been almost forgotton through photography to almost bring them back to life through pictures. He chooses the people he does because they carry culture that have been almost left buried in history. I think Diop has made connections between himself and these people as he may of heard the stories in the past and felt some of the people deserved more recognition- in his way, portrayed through photography. Advice he would give to a young photographer would be to start now and not later and to know they dont have to have a fancy camera, to try with a phone camera instead. if I were to do something similar I would be someone from (or make a costume inspired from) the 80's or 90's. Personally, I would not like to live in that time although I do like the overall aesthetic. |
I chose this as a favourite piece of Alma Haser's work because she has incorperated a different theme- nature, shown by the leaves. The neat contrast with the pale yellow and deep greens draw more attention towards this one, and the plain beige back round highlights the main object in the centre. As shown below, Haser has also done something similar to the one above.

This is a cubist inspired edit I made On a picture simply on a magazine- made using a scalpel. First, I cut out a measured square, then I cut the inside into even strips. Obviously lastly I rearranged them and stuck them down.
I like how I have edited it then it still matches, but next time I would stick them down neater, and more compact so less blue back round is shown. Although there are faults, I do like what I made overall- especially the simplicity of it. |
